Texas Legislature Up-Date

AARP Update: August 2005- Senate Bill (SB5) passed legislation and it allows for unlimited rate increases for customers who want basic phone service starting January

2006. Gov. Perry has 30 days to sign the measure into law or veto it. Even if he doesn’t sign the law, Texas Constitution allows a way out; it automatically becomes a law anyway! This will effect a lot of seniors on Social Security income only. So it is imperative that you call Governor Perry and let him know your feelings on this subject. Call toll-free 1-800-843-5789 between the hours of 8am and 5pm and ask him to veto SB5.  It’s your dollars!
