All About Dee Taylor

Dee Taylor has a passion in her heart to fill the need she sees in the aging population. She is a multimedia talent and leader promoting a new vision of retirement.  Dee Taylor is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother but she also has many other talents and leads an incredibly active lifestyle.

Today's seniors are living longer, growing stronger and have more opportunities than any previous retirement group in history.  They're more likely to be into kick boxing than crocheting, sky diving instead of sitting on the front porch.

Dee was nominated for the 2004 Texas Women's Hall of Fame!

  --- The Editor

Called by God to do a senior television show she is testimony to how God isn't done with you even after you turn 60 years old.  Dee now works as Executive Producer, Writer and Host of the weekly TV show Sizzlin' Seniors which serves the D/FW metroplex.  Currently involved with syndicating the program to regional markets and developing a companion radio show, Dee is working hard to increase media awareness and appreciation of the rapidly growing senior market.

Dee also writes a monthly column for Senior News Source Magazine which is distributed across the area.  She also writes "Ask Dee" for the DFW Community Newspapers of Texas.  Her first book, "Seven Simple Steps To Know How To Hear God When He Is Calling You" was micropublished and she is currently working on her second book, "So You Think You Are A Woman Of God."

"To My Second Daughter" was a poem by Dee for her daughter one year before she was killed in an auto accident.  It was recognized by the National Poetry Association and selected for the National Library of Congress' Poetry Edition of The Lasting Joy published in 1998.  Her poem "Her Big Little Man Was He" was selected for The Best Poems and Poets of the 20th Century, America At The Millennium in 1999.  In 2001 her work "Puppy Picks A Grandma" was again selected for its fresh perspective.

In 1999 Dee made two senior aerobic videos with the Plano Senior Center's Fun Fit Crew for national distribution, The Good Life, Part 1 and 2.  In 2001 she participated in a medical study with the Cooper Institute of Dallas researching how exercise impacts women between 45 and 65 years old.

Dee Taylor is a frequent speaker on senior topics to organizations and churches throughout the area.

In an editorial on Sunday, July 28, 2002, the Dallas Morning News in its Plano Morning News section, Page 4P, titled, "Maturing city should rely on feedback from seniors," said that "...the city should tap into strong leadership among local seniors. One of the strongest local leaders is Dee Taylor, who has won awards for her volunteer work and local cable TV show, Sizzlin' Seniors, which airs on Channel 14A in Plano. She is constantly asking, "What do maturing adults need to thrive in their later years?" The discussion is aired on her show and discussed on her Web site, www.sizzlinsen.org, which she launched with help from [Plano City] Council member Steve Stovall."

She is the mother of four children, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of two and foster mother of two teenage boys. She has been married to a wonderful gentleman, Randy Taylor, since 1985.
