By Dee Taylor A kick-off luncheon was held at the Southfork Hotel on N. Central expressway in Plano, Tuesday, January 4, 2005 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The long-time program called "Senior Friends" at Medical Center of Plano is changing their name to "H2U" which stands for health, happiness, and you! They have provided senior activities with programs, benefits and information centered on health since 1997 under the national organization "Senior Friends." The senior turn out was great and the food was too, as many senior friends came to help celebrate the first of the Healthy Living Luncheon Series that Medical Center of Plano will provide this year for their "H2U" members. Dr Mona, who you may know as the CBS 11 Medical correspondent spoke on "A New Year. A New You." Many wonderful door prizes were the crowd's delight, as the numbers were drawn for the winners, and everyone went home with a free gift to monitor the steps they take during their daily walk. The future monthly "H2U" luncheons will be held in the Community Classroom on the first floor of the Medical Office Building, 4001 West 15th Street, in Suite 170. Special guests will be presenting numerous topics during the New Year. In February, Men and Women's Heart Health will be discussed; in March, eating your way to better health will be the topic; in April, health benefits of relaxation and medication will be on the agenda; in May, "H2U" will address mental fitness and preventing memory loss; in June they will get after it with a fun subject, "Oh my aching feet;" in July they will tell you how to get a beautiful healthy smile as they talk about cosmetic and restorative dentistry; and the month of August will be more information than you will ever want to know about staying healthy A-Z. You won't want to miss not one of these special luncheons, so become a "H2U" member so that you too can attend with this fun and lively group. Space is always limited because of the number of attendees, so reservations are in order by calling 972-519-1275. Come and make new friends, and ask how you can become a member and get involved in the "H2U" activities designed just for the mature adult population in mind, at the ever-growing Medical Center of Plano. --------------------------------- Dee Taylor is a multi-media talent who can be seen daily at 12 noon and 7pm in Plano and Richardson on Channel 14, Time Warner Cable television with her program, "Sizzlin' Seniors."
