By Dee Taylor As we age, we find our outside beauty fades, but all those years of experiences, trials and tribulations make us the person we become inside. The Ms. Texas Senior America pageant is not a beauty pageant in the traditional sense. Hopefully, the contestant's beauty will shine from the inside out for all to see. That is exactly what the women in the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant will be exhibiting at 2:00pm on September 17, 2005 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Park Central, 13131 N. Central Expressway, in Dallas, Texas. I have always said, "When you have lived 60 plus years, you have a lot to share." Since the pageant exemplifies the dignity, maturity and the inner beauty of women over 60 years of age, the contestants will be judged on 1) a personal interview with the judges, 2) their own philosophy of life, 3) there will be an evening gown competition (no bathing suits for these women) 4) and they will also be presenting their own talent. What kind of talents, you may be asking. It could be singing, dancing (yes, some of them still dance), sewing, art, reading something they have written in way of poetry or a short story of achievement and hope, or perhaps playing a piano or musical instrument. Any talent goes on stage at the Ms. Texas Senior America pageant! The winner of the Texas pageant will go to Las Vegas to compete in the Ms. Senior America pageant. The Ms Texas Senior America pageant also promotes healthy aging, and wellness. Featured as part of the pageant will be a very special guest speaker, Dr. David Lipschitz. Dr Lipschitz will be giving his presentation the day before the pageant on Friday, September 16th at 2:00pm at the same Embassy Suites as the Ms. Texas Senior America pageant, followed by his personal book signing. Dr David Lipschitz is Director of Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System and is recognized as one of the premier experts in the Geriatric field. He has given lectures on this topic throughout the United States and the world. Dr. Lipschitz's interest in aging research led to an ever-increasing focus on the unique medical needs of older people. He is consistently listed in "Best Doctors in America." You won't want to miss hearing him speak if you are a senior or connected to the aging market in any manner. Senior women are role models, not only as mentors to their peers but also to the generations that follow. As the judges look inside of these moxey women for the beauty within; the ladies will be lifted up as a treasure, whether they be mothers, grandmothers, aunts or sisters. They are all winners, and they will point the way for women of all ages, to "be and see" their own potential, as they celebrate the best years of their own lives in the Ms. Texas Senior America competition.
