Prime time Productions, Inc. (non-profit org.) is
humming right along. We got the
New Year off with a bang when we received notice that we had been named
in METRO “Who’s Who” Directory
for 2004-2005, which is comprised of noteworthy companies that have
the edge with demonstrated success in their industry! For the 2nd
year, I have been
nominated for the Add Years to Your Life! Have you heard of the
new recipe for heart disease prevention? Well, grab a handful of dark
chocolate, a couple almonds, some fruits and vegetables and a sprinkle of
garlic, and then wash down with a glass of red wine! Do this every day and
researchers say you can cut your risk of heart disease by a whopping 76%!
Wow! Scientists in the BMJ Journal, while dubbing this diet the “Polymeal”-
which is a combination of foods mentioned above, plus fish - four times a
week, can be combined in a meal once a day or taken individually throughout
the day. Researchers say, “A glass of wine reduces heart disease by nearly
one third. “Yes! They also say eating fish four times a week reduces heart
disease risk by 14%. Ugh! Combining
these seven foods mentioned will increase your life expectancy if you are
age 50+, and will reduce heart attacks by as much as two-thirds. If you
exclude any ingredient, it will cause a slight decline in heart protection , but get this…omitting wine reduces
benefits the most by 10%. Enjoy and
Happy, Healthy New Year! Discriminatory Insurance Practices being
called to the front in Because of a recent report
from the Texas Department of Insurance, showing that the use of credit
scoring disproportionately impacts minorities and middle class citizens,
Advocacy groups like Texas Watch, Consumers union, AARP, NAACP,
Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education, Public Citizen, TexPIRG,
Center for Economic Justice and Common Cause have all come together to call
for an end to the unfair and discriminatory use of underwriting practices,
including credit scoring for insurance purposes. This practice affects many of the 50-65
populations. This will be a topic to watch in 2205 as TX Legislatures begin
to deal with this issue. More Exercise for the New Year and
More Energy! Perform 45 minutes of aerobic exercise (brisk walking
will do) and you will immediately reduce tension build up. You will
feel tired for about an hour after a brisk workout, but your energy level
will surge shortly afterwards and stay high for a longer period of time.
This kind of exercise is the best answer to negative winter moods, like
anxiety or frustration. Always drink
lots of water. Watch your input of winter foods after you exercise! In
winter, we tend to reach for rich comfort foods, such as macaroni and
cheese or heavy desserts. Try stews or soups for proper nutrition after
exercise. I hope you enjoy my Newsletter! You are receiving it
